Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What denomination is this?
C3 Church Townsville is part of the C3i Church Global Movement founded by Ps Phil and Chris Pringle in Sydney (Australia). We are a Christ centred Bible believing church. We are Pentecostal in our belief of the supernatural and we are contemporary in our flavour and application of our faith. Please feel free to click on the above hyperlink to read all about our beliefs and values. You’ll find that our beliefs are shared by many different denominations and we welcome everyone.
Q: Is this place a cult?
Great question. The answer is definitely “No”. Cults tell you what to believe, take away your freedoms and forbid you to leave. Here at C3 Church, you’re welcome no matter what you believe, and we want you to experience freedom (including the freedom to leave whenever you want). Also, we are part of a large church movement denomination which brings accountability at all levels of leadership; and accountability brings transparency, safety and security to all.
Q: I absolutely do not believe in God. Am I still welcome?
Yes, you absolutely are welcome. We believe in God, but we do not expect you to believe also. We do ask that you be open to exploring your questions about God and continue to seek for truth.
Q: What do I do with my kids?
Bring them. We run Kids Church for children aged 12 months old (or walking) to 12 years old. At Kids Church your children will be supervised by adults with “blue card” accreditation from the Queensland Government and a commitment to creating a safe and fun environment. Kids Church is a place where kids can figure out who God is, what the Bible is all about, and have TONS of fun along the way. For those little ones who may be too unsettled in church and too young to go to Kids Church, we have a fully equiped parents room where you can comfortably watch the service while your child plays freely.
Q: Who funds this place?
There are no corporate sponsors or franchise affiliations, and there’s no phantom fat cat paying the bills. It’s the generosity of everyday people in our community that fuels the life change we experience around here. Our support comes from the normal tithes (10 percent of earnings) and offerings from people who like our church and love contributing to the things they see God doing in the lives of people.
Q: All the people working on the weekend, are they being paid?
Nope. But they are absolute champions. There is a lot of work that goes on to make church happen every week. Our generous volunteers dedicate their time to run Kids Church, set up, pack-up, greet people at the door, run the sound desk, run the multimedia, sing and play music, make the coffee, clean, and so on. Why do they do it? Because they can see the tangible impact in the lives of people and they love being a part of what God is doing.
Q: But it doesn’t even look like a church.
That’s great! We are happy to be detached from the traditional church stereo-type and we like to think we are a little bit “different” and “out of the box”. The underlining question though is: “What’s a church supposed to look like?” We believe that a church is about the people inside, not about the building. So it shouldn’t matter if we look like a movie cinema, a former warehouse or a school or community hall. And while you might not find steeples or stained glass at C3 Church, there’s no shortage of really authentic friendly people—and good coffee.
